Walter J. "Jack" Armstrong, 76, of Herminie, passed away Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born April 11, 1944, in Harriman, Tenn., and was a son of the late George C. and Vera (Pierce) Armstrong. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennifer (Mullins) Armstrong; granddaughter, Payton Armstrong; and his brother, Richard Armstrong, and his sister, Phyllis Terry.

Jack was proud to have been a USMC 2nd Battalion Recon veteran. He was currently appointed chaplain of the Herminie VFW Post 8427. He was a member of The Church located in Sutersville. Prior to his retirement, Jack was an electrician for IBEW Local 5 of Pittsburgh for more than 40 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and shooting guns. He especially loved sharing the word.

Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy (Lytle) Armstrong; two sons, Brian Armstrong, of Herminie, and Michael Armstrong, of Georgia; four special grandchildren, Daisy, Lia, Jack and Gabriel; daughter-in-law, Katherine Armstrong, of Hermine; a brother, George Armstrong, of Washington; four sisters, Ann Johnson, Vickie Collins, Kathy Green and Martha Guy, all of North Carolina; three stepchildren, DeAnne (Dominick) Pesognelli, of Monongahela, Paul (Cathleen) Gedeon, of Kentucky, and Sheila (Ed) Knizner, of Monongahela; seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jack will be very sadly missed by his family, neighbors and many church friends. 

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251, at which time a private service will be held in the funeral home with Pastor Frank Rocco, with full military services. Michael E. May, 81, of Sutersville, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at Excela Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He is now reunited with his wife, Judith, and daughter, Sherry, who preceded him in death.

He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of the late Edward May.

Mike was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant, after 33 years. He was an Army veteran, and a member of The Church of Sutersville.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Scott May (Lisa), of Sutersville; grandson, Leeland Corley; granddaughter, Lindsay Staats; and a great-grandson, Elijah Corley; also many nieces, nephews, loving neighbors, and friends.

Robert H. Brady Jr., 82, of Sewickley Township, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020. He was born Oct. 19, 1938, in East McKeesport, and was the son of the late Robert H. Brady Sr., and the late Alice (Bain) Brady.

Robert was a member of The Church in Sutersville and was retired from the former Daily News in McKeesport. He was an Air Force veteran and served 10 years on the Yough School Board.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Beck) Brady; son, Bruce W. (Camille) Brady, of Chesapeake, Va.; daughter, Beth (Carl) Anderson, of Tucson, Ariz.; and grandchildren, Michael (Kaylin) Brady, Corrie Brady, Ian (Briana) Anderson and Carly Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Palmquist and Shirley Cooper.

Mayetta “Mitzi” Jean Gross, 74, of Elizabeth, went home to heaven Sunday, October 25, 2020.  She was born at her home in West Newton on May 15, 1946, to the late Robert “Hoppy” and Hunteretta (Boyd) Smith. 

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years Herb, her infant son Timothy Drew, her brothers Robert Smith Jr. of Pensacola, FL, Thomas D. Smith Sr. of West Newton, and Dennis Smith of Jacobs Creek. 

She is survived by her only daughter Jeffri Lyn Hurst of Franklin, TN, husband Brandon, and granddaughter Ariele, whom she adored beyond words.  She is also survived by her only sister, Judith N. Backstrom of West Newton, and many well-loved nieces and nephews.  She was embraced as beloved “Moom” to her many “adopted” daughters and sons. 

Although she left her cherished earthly church family of 31 years behind, she joyfully reunited with many of her very best friends who were already waiting for her in heaven.

Mitzi graduated from Pittsburgh Beauty Academy in 1967 and owned and operated her salon “Imagery” for many years.  She was the secretary of Cash Registers Unlimited, Inc. for 53 years, from the time of her marriage to Herb, after his retirement and through its transition, and until her passing.  She was also the dedicated secretary of The Church Christian Academy in Sutersville. Moom’s imprint on the people that love her will always remain.

Sherry Lynn May was born in Charleroi, PA on August 24, 1962 and died on August 4, 2020. She lived most of her life in Sutersville.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Kay May; her grandfather Miles (Mousey) Angelo and her cousin James Angelo.

Sherry is survived by her husband Thomas Erhardt; her father Michael E. May; her brother Scott May (Lisa Gardner); an uncle, James Angelo; and many cousins.

Sherry was unbelievably talented vocally and is well known for her wit and humor in producing many of The Church plays and Church couples dinners. She had a giving heart and was a friend to many. It goes without saying that she will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Walter “Buck” Farmer, 81, of Gratztown, died Monday, April 6, 2020.  He was born September 18, 1938 in Gratztown, a son of the late Walter and Margaret (George) Farmer. 

Buck was a member of The Church of Sutersville and had served in the Army. 

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle (Galway) Farmer; three children, Debbie Smith and husband, Jimi, Jay Farmer and wife Melissa, and Patrick Farmer and wife, Tina; six grandchildren, Josh Stewart and wife, Cassie, Travis Stewart, Veda Farmer, Kristopher Stewart, Patrick Farmer, and Preston Farmer; a brother, Eugene “Bud” Farmer and wife, Louise; three sisters, Patty Hadock and husband, Bill, Donna Farkas and husband, Bob, and Helen Debarr and husband, Gary; and nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Maurrie Rayner; brothers, Gary Farmer and Bob Farmer; and sister, Shirley Schwab.

Glenn David Lynn, 72, of Sutersville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

A son of the late Jim and June Summers McManus, he was born in Mt. Pleasant on October 25, 1947.

Glenn was a member of the Church of Sutersville and had resided in Sutersville most of his adult life.

He retired from Builders Surplus and the former Sutersville Lumber Company where he was a Kitchen Designer.

Glenn was also a U.S. Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Kearns Lynn whom he married on December 21, 1967, two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandi Lynn at home and Lauri and Tom Kmetz of Star Junction, two grandchildren, Joshua Kmetz at home and Matthew and wife Dakoda Ritchie of Charleroi, and a brother and sister in-law, Kenneth “Punkin” and Cindy McManus of Sutersville.

Josephine "Doll" Weigand, 88, of Lowber, went to be with the lord Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, when she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children. She was born April 19, 1931, in Everson, and was a daughter of the late Lloyd M. and Cecelia (Hendrykowska) Goslicky.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Poison"  Weigand; her son, Kerry H. Weigand; six sisters, Cecelia, Genevieve, Violet, Helen, Mary and Gladys; and two brothers, Vincent and Ben.

Prior to retiring, Doll was a home interior displayer, having worked for Home Interior and Gifts for more than 30 years. She loved visiting the homes of all her customers over the years. Doll was a member of The Church in Sutersville. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and loved to crochet. Spending time with her family was when she was happiest.

Doll is survived by her three daughters, Karen (Ronald) Nelson, of Herminie, Kathy (Robert) Carnes, of Mt. Pleasant, and Karlene (Dale) Krisantz, of Lowber; her son, Karl R. "Jake" Weigand and his fiancee, Angelita Doppelhauer, of Elizabeth Township; seven grandchildren, Kerry (Wendy) Reed, Jennifer (Jim) Bauer, Jamie (Traci) Pomaibo, Michael Pomaibo and Wendy, Karl (Christine) Weigand, Harold Frank Biondo and Nick Krisantz; seven special great-grandchildren, Dakota, Haylee, Kalob, Nicholas, Emily, Lacey and Noah; a brother, Lloyd M. Goslicky, of Greensburg, and her "Love" Bob Biondo, of West Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Doll will be dearly missed by her family, friends, special neighbors and her many customers over the years. Joey Cornyn Galardi, age 37, of Jefferson Hills, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Joey is survived by his loving Mom, Rosemary Galardi. Joey was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Ruth R. Galardi "Alice" and Joseph J. Galardi "Guy - Guy".

John A. Paskan, 70, of Sutersville, died Monday, June 8, 2020.  He was born May 5, 1950 in McKeesport, a son of the late Andrew and Emma (Banko) Paskan. 

Prior to retirement he was employed by U.S. Steel Research.  John was a member of Sutersville Volunteer Fire Department since 1968; he also held a seat on Sutersville Boro Council for several years.  His hobbies were building and flying radio controlled airplanes, and fishing. 

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Nicolaus) Paskan; son, Benjamin J. Paskan and wife, Rachel; brother, Daniel Paskan; sister, Susan Lacey; and also nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Andrew J. Paskan. 

Friends will be received 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday at The Church, 1683 Mars Hill Rd, Sutersville, where a service will be held at 10 am Friday.  Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to the J.
